Our Game Tips

Besides all of the tips on how to stock up on Energy, there are a few more game tips that we have discovered along the way!

  1. ENERGY DISCOUNT: During regular game play, always watch the ad so that Scenes cost 10 Energy instead of 15. It only lasts for 30 minutes, but you can go back and watch another ad any time!

  2. COLLECTING COINS FROM BUILDINGS: When the Coin icon pops up above your buildings, click on them SLOWLY! If you click too fast, you could lose getting the full amount of Coins! Those pop-ups only show up when the number of Coins have been earned. The Estate generates Coins at the rate of 1 Coin every 10 minutes, reaching a maximum of 60 in 10 hours. All other buildings generate 1 Coin every 40 minutes, reaching max of 15 in 10 hours.

If you are desperate for a few extra coins, and the pop-ups above the buildings haven't appeared, you can click on the buildings, and then on the Coin icon to obtain any Coins that have accumulated. It will have a green background if there are Coins available. Otherwise, the icon will be grayed out.

  3. SHARING DRINKS IN THE CAFE: When putting out more than one drink in the Cafe in the Detectives Lounge, space them out to avoid potentially losing the tips and energy you get from your own coffee. (It is easy to miss, but yes, you get tips and coins from each drink you put out as well!) When collecting drinks, also remember to click SLOWLY! If you click too fast, you could lose the full amount of Tips and/or Energy!

  4. COLLECTING TIPS IN THE CAFE: Tips are the silver heart octagon coins. You earn 20 Tips when you put out a drink or collect a drink in the Cafe in the Detectives Lounge. You don't have to collect your Tips right away. You can save them until you have a Help Wanted task to collect Tips. Eventually you will spend those Tips (see game tip number 5).

  5. SPENDING TIPS IN THE CAFE: Click on the green gift bag with a heart on it in the lower left-hand part of the screen when you are in the Cafe in the Detectives Lounge (see screenshot above). The most important thing to spend Tips on for our club is the Energy Increase. This upgrades the number of Energy given for each drink you serve. While a 5-Star Pink Box might look tempting, it is better for the team and you to get more Energy per drink in the long run! Players are allowed to buy Help for comps, like the Help found in the bottom left of corner of scenes. Each Help costs 55 tips. You can purchase 10 Helps for 550 tips, which is a tremendous time saver over purchasing Help individually.   Also, the drinks and portraits available are of no added value. They are just for fun, and I suppose we can spend Tips on them once we are all upgraded to 15 Energy!
  6. FYI, here are the costs to upgrade:
     9 to 10 =    10 tips
    10 to 11 =   950 tips
    11 to 12 =  2400 tips
    12 to 13 =  5200 tips
    13 to 14 =  8200 tips
    14 to 15 = 13500 tips

  7. ZOOMING INTO A SCENE: You can zoom in and out of a Scene by using two fingers to pinch in or out. When you zoom into a Scene, if the Object is in the zoomed area, the Object name remains bright white, while other Objects not in that area are grayed out. It is really helpful, but be careful because it will do this when only part of an Object is in the area, which can be tricky! Slowly move around in zoom to see when the Object comes in your zoomed in area to better pinpoint it.

  8. SCREEN BRIGHTNESS: When playing a darker scene, be sure to turn up your screen brightness on your device. Some do this for every Scene!

  9. STAR BOXES: You don't have to open them right away. We have heard that saving up Star Boxes and opening them all together can garner better prizes, but not all of us have tried it or want to wait. However, doing so may help you stock up on Energy for Comps, or be ready for a Help Wanted task or get you through a Detectives Needed.

  10. SPENDING MATERIALS: One of the new Help Wanted tasks is to spend 55 Material. This can be done by upgrading buildings or sending Jack to get flowers, coins, or other prizes. It is recommended that you wait to do these things, even if you have enough Materials, so that you will be ready to do so when that task comes up.
